Excursion Summary
On Demand
This workshop introduces students to the Library’s amazing photography collections and develops skills of analysis and interpretation. Students will use these skills to take thoughtful, well constructed photographs. This workshop offers a balance of theory and practice.
In this 90 minute program students will:
- explore the exhibition Shot 400 photographs | 200 photographers | 3 centuries
- analyse and study photographic techniques
- create their own photographic images

4.10 recognises that art criticism and art history construct meanings

5.2 makes artworks informed by their understanding of the function of and relationships between artist – artwork – world – audience
5.3 makes artworks informed by an understanding of how the frames affect meaning
5.5 makes informed choices to develop and extend concepts and different meanings in their artworks
5.6 demonstrates developing technical accomplishment and refinement in making artworks
Critical and historical studies - Outcomes
5.7 applies their understanding of aspects of practice to critical and historical interpretations of art
5.8 uses their understanding of the function of and relationships between artist – artwork – world – audience in critical and historical interpretations of art
5.9 demonstrates how the frames provide different interpretations of art
5.10 demonstrates how art criticism and art history construct meanings
Stage 5 Photographic & Digital Media
Making - Outcomes:
5.2 makes photographic and digital works informed by their understanding of the function of and relationships between artist–artwork–world–audience
5.3 makes photographic and digital works informed by an understanding of how the frames affect meaning
5.5 makes informed choices to develop and extend concepts and different meanings in their photographic and digital works
5.6 selects appropriate procedures and techniques to make and refine photographic and digital works
Critical and historical interpretations - Outcomes:
5.7 applies their understanding of aspects of practice to critically and historically interpret photographic and digital works
5.9 uses the frames to make different interpretations of photographic and digital works
