Cultural Competence Training
In 2016, the Library has offered 40 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Competence Course (accredited) to be undertaken by public libraries staff across NSW. Selected participants undertook 10.5 hours of course, and have been invited to attend the Indigenous Services Unconference: Public Library Action Plans will be held at the Library next February. This gathering will be a great opportunity for the group to provide feedback on the course, and discuss ideas for building action plans for their local libraries.
Social Media Engagement
The Library is sharing and disseminating information on the strategy Indigenous Spaces in Library Places through the #PublicLibrariesIndigenous and Pinterest.
Aboriginal Family History Training
The Indigenous Services team visited Taree and Cessnock libraries to host a series of workshops to assist community members in undertaking Aboriginal family history research.
Contact us if you would like to host one of our workshops.
