Indigenous Services presentations: Puliima Conference, Melbourne
In October 2014 Melissa Jackson presented at Puliima, a national forum that aims at bringing together project ideas, products and equipment utilised by Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander communities to revive and record language. Puliima is the largest community focussed national Aboriginal language gathering in Australia, and prides itself on practical demonstrations and workshops.
The Forum also allows people to network with an inspirational group of people who all share a common ambition of preserving and celebrating the languages of this country. The word Puliima is Awabakal (the Newcastle language) and means making voice.
Melissa shared with the attendees a presentation on the Rediscovering Indigenous Languages website.
